A Reiki Intensive Experiment

A period of doing Reiki more intensively helps to create new energy flow in your body and your life. It is perfect for chronic physical and mental conditions, or just to bring your life back to what is authentic and meaningful. The following is a real-life example of what is possible.

After a friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer we agreed to try the protocol of doing Reiki healing for 21 consecutive days.  This was to help prepare my friend for some major medical procedures that were scheduled.  Although 21 days was taught as the protocol for chronic illness when I was learning Reiki quite a while back, I had not had the opportunity to try it with anyone.  So, as a sort of experiment, we had nothing to lose and everything to gain.

As we are busy people, it wasn't really feasible to meet in person every single day, but my friend and I were determined to get Reiki done every day despite this.  We decided to meet in person for an hour on weekdays, and to do distance Reiki on the weekends by phone call for 15 minutes.  As Reiki energy operates in the quantum physics realm, distance is not an obstacle and it works well in this mode.  We also found it useful to be visualizing the healing on a consistent basis every day, even if for only 15 minutes.

As a few days of Reiki treatments for my friend went by, I noticed a change in attitude, a subtle change in their composure, and a renewed focus on what was meaningful to this person.  Energies started flowing more immediately in the session, as blocks were slowly released.  My friend started noticing changes in their resolve.  They made a few important changes in their daytime schedule for their self-care, and were able to recognize and create boundaries with others when things weren't serving them.  Two weeks into the protocol, there were some positive physical changes occurring as the muscles relaxed, allowing function to be restored to the tissues, bones, and nerves.  By the end of the 21 days my friend walked a little taller, literally and figuratively!  Areas that had feelings of numbness due to chemotherapy treatments were almost back to normal feeling.  My friend had hope and positivity about the procedures that were about to take place at the hospital, and for the healing that was going to take place afterwards.  After reading this letter, my friend wanted to tell you their experience. “As you well know, and put it in your note, that it did a lot to open me up and take a more responsible part in my self-care. I made it through (the procedure)…”  and they told me that the side- effects of the treatment were less severe at that stage than what the doctors had prepared them for.  What a wonderful blessing this was for my friend, and for me to experience.

The intention of physical healing was a good practical reason for this experiment. However, I think we found much more than just this type of healing taking place within both of us. Acting on this intention created a connection that is hard to put into words. Perhaps love is the only word that makes sense, and maybe healing is just that; the outpouring and receiving of love and connection. This frequency of love energy is a template, or signature, that is taken in by the body and is internalized into the system of physical and psychological parts. Much like how finding a good mental health therapist can bring corrective experiences to a person that they can then bring to other relationships, Reiki brings a new template to the body’s experience. Since the body and mind are so inextricably linked, new perspectives such as self-compassion and acceptance naturally arise while releasing physical blocks in the body. I feel blessed to experience my friend’s system moving into a more self-loving and harmonious pattern of wellness.
